About

Christian Mock

Born a baker's son, I made my way to Vermont as a paper boy in various small towns across the United States. In my mid-30's, I hung up my paper boy boots and started a small napkin business in Brattleboro, Vermont.  I met my wife, a napkin decorator, at the annual James Francis Napkin Retreat in Rutland, Vermont. I found my cats drifting alone in a canoe on Colchester Pond.

I'm an avid comic book reader and fan of the thrilling Doctor Who television series.

Christopher Schmid

Idea man, artist and co-founder of Buffalo Wild Wings, Christopher Schmid is an urban wannabe, lover of Gatorade, adoring husband and father of one pancake-loving little girl. His education talents started at a young age and bloomed a bit more while enrolled at New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology.

After NMT, Christopher made a few twists working at The Children’s Museum of St.Louis, Ogilvy & Mather (an advertising agency), the Lomalinda Chamber of Commerce and Cape Appledale Public Zoo. These fine places introduced him to new people, big ideas and global concepts that helped shape the person he is today.

Christopher’s not strictly limited to the field of education; he was a Pepsi-Cola Junior Championship Bowler at age 9, spent time as a rodeo clown to pay for college and to his knowledge still holds the record for most runs in the home run derby in his hometown of Tannersville, Pennsylvania. He can be found fishing on the shores of Lake Champlain or enjoying yet another community theater production through his improv work.

Richard Lewis

While I am new to Milton Elementary School, I am quite familiar with the subject and young students! I completed my studies in Middle Level (Grades 5-9) Humanities this spring through the Teacher Apprenticeship Program at Champlain College. I was fortunate to work as a substitute teacher at Winooski Middle/High School for the previous two years. One of the best things about being a substitute is that I get to experience many different subjects, ages and instructional styles across middle and high school. When I started as a substitute, I was anticipating doing it for a short time while I looked for work in communications and public relations, the field in which I worked for the past 30 years. As PR jobs didn’t materialize and I spent more and more time in the school, I realized that teaching was my true calling. I can honestly say it was the students who made me want to be a teacher, and they continue to inspire me to do my best in the classroom every day.
I am a native of Burlington and have lived in Vermont my entire life. I attended the University of Vermont and earned my BA in History in 1984. While working at UVM in the early 1990’s I took Master’s-level history courses as well. I have worked in communications in many different roles over the years for UVM, KeyBank and the American Cancer Society, to name a few. My love of history began when I was a child and my grandmother told me about the ancestors that had lived and worked in the house where she lived. My family was fortunate to have a lot of historic artifacts from past generations available to hold and study. I try to infuse my instruction of history and language arts with the same enthusiasm and excitement that I first experienced with her.
My wife, Gloria, and I have three children and three grandchildren. In addition to studying history, I play the drums and have sung in choirs over the years. I also do commercial voice production for a couple of local businesses in my spare time.
