12-16-15: Holiday Band Concert

In case you missed tonight's concert, we've provided a short clip and some photographs from the event.  We are very proud of all of the students for their hard work and dedication to their craft.  Additionally, Team Mansfield represents 12/27 students in the MES Intermediate Band.  That's 44% of the band made up by our team!

The MES Intermediate Band played the following songs:
  • Fanfare on Ode to Joy
  • Frost on the Kudzu
  • Christmas Fantasy (Based on Jingle Bells)
  • Christmas Chimes (Based on Carol of the Bells)
The video clip is from the final song of the evening.

11-30: December News

Your student may have shared with you that we have switched homerooms for the next three weeks.  While it is taking a little bit to get used to it, the Schmid students now have their Morning Meeting with Mr. Mock and the Mock students have their Morning Meeting with Mr. Schmid.  This should go a long way towards establishing that we are all one big team and for everyone to get to learn some new things about their teachers.  This does not change our Unified Arts schedule.

---

There is a Missing Assignment Report coming home today.  This is a three week report, covering everything for the month of November.  Please go over the report with your child, sign it, and send it back in.

---

We have our extra Unified Arts this month!  Here is the schedule!!

December 1:    Schmid Kids: PE        Mock Kids: Music
December 2:    Schmid Kids: PE        Mock Kids: Guidance
December 21:  Schmid Kids: Music   Mock Kids: Art

11-8: Home Sweet Home

Yesterday we had a 26 hour adventure home to complete our journey back from Doha, Qatar to Vermont, USA.  We all had wake up calls from the front desk at 4:30 AM!  We had to leave the hotel in a shuttle at 5:00 AM.  Upon arriving, we found a massive teddy bear at the airport in Qatar!  The plane we flew in was a Qatar Airways Air Bus.  It was amazing!  We watched three movies on the way to London.

When we arrived at Heathrow International Airport in London, England we were very hungry!  We stopped at a restaurant and indulged in some local cuisine.  Mr. Schmid had "Fish and Chips" and Mr. Mock ordered "Toad in the Hole".

Our delicious meal

The final trip from London the Montreal seemed to take forever!  Once we arrived, we quickly made our way to our cars and raced home to see our families.  We were all ready to be back!

11-06-15: We finally touch the Persian Gulf!

Our last full day in Doha has been incredible!  We packed so much into this day!

These are the chairs in the lobby!

After we left the giant shoes, we walked across the street and stepped into the water for the fist time!  It was so very warm!  We didn't stay long because we weren't sure who owned the property and it was also very rocky!

The shallowness of the water meant it was WARM!

We then took a cab ride to the area called Katara.  We got to go swimming for real!  The water was so warm and so salty!  It was very deep but we kept on floating!

Photographs on the beach were prohibited!  As was walking barefoot across to the beach from the changing area!

After swimming we went to a Lebanese restaurant and had tabouleh, moutabal, dilijian birds and sambousek for lunch!

Only one of us was brave enough to try the birds!  Guess who it was!

After lunch. we explored the cultural center and climbed to the top of the amphitheater.

A cool statue called "Force of Nature" that is in front of the amphitheater.

We ended our time with another trip to the Souq Waqif.  This time we had Turkish food for dinner!

Shawarma!
So tasty!

As this post is going live, we have about 8 hours until we leave with a wake up call in 4 hours and 30 minutes!  We travel to London and then Montreal and then home!  If we get to do any sightseeing in London, we'll be sure to post some pictures!

See you all Monday!
